Lead core line
I found that I have two reels full of lead core lines. I had no intention to use it previously but having consistent trouble with dipsey divers I think why not.
Need to ask two questions though..
Does the lead core line have 'expiry dates'? They sit in my basement for some 7 years, so I'm not sure if they are still good. (Lead oxidation or other issues?)
Is it possible to run lead core with a planer board?
Thanks for educating me!

Do your lead core reels have a braid or mono backing?
Ideally a 45 series reel is what you used. It would hold the 10 colors, a 10-20 floro leader, and 300yds of braid backing.
Putting lead core in planer board clips or releases will damage the sheath and potentially break the lead. You should be connecting to the braid/mono backing.
I have not heard of lead core breaking down during storage. Some of my 5 colour setups are faded. Assume its UV and wear on the guides going in and out.

If it was out of the sun your fine. The sheath gives it its strength.

Test it man ... take a piece, especially the first bit that may have been previously exposed to water and sun, and hang a cinder block off of it. Should hold 27 lbs.
Anyhow, yes, planer boards are the normal way to go with leadcore ...
