Sounds like the whole council should be charged with 'interfering in an authorized hunt'....

They should prohibit non- hunters from walking during hunting season, that would be a step forward. So whats next stop upland hunting, then before you know it county forest closes again because of high use.

Sounds like they need somebody to advocate on behalf of hunters in the area....?

I hunt a lot in different county forests, some busy, some not. Maybe educating the general public about hunting activities via signage and other means (like York Region forest and Simcoe County) instead of proposing a ban. Dog walkers and other non hunters tend to stick to trails, you'll almost never see them in a place where a normal person would hunt game.

I know it is sad, but if you try to ban walking in the county forest during hunting season, you will fail. Likely get hunting banned instead, as more people walk , than hunt.

I hunt a few areas where people occasionally go for a walk. My approach has been as soon as I see someone walking I either unload my gun or most times for me I am using my single 20 or 16, so I break it open. When I pass by I say a nice cheery hello and sometimes stop to talk. All my encounters have been pleasant and no complaints.

Most rural people in Eastern Ontario seem use to hunters. I suspect most bad encounters will probably be someone being from the City.

I guess I am lucky (Fingers crossed) I have never met a anti hunter while hunting.

The small rive I hunt just down from my house, we hunt canoeing up the river, when we return down just before we can see the bridge we put away the gun's , legally we can still hunt but we don't. Just imagine someone not from the area see's me canoeing and I shoot. The cops will be here and I will spend an hour of my time explaining that we are legal not worth my time.

Great GW, that is because you were being respectful to the other party. Imagine what would happen if a hunter popped up and started yelling, ' get out of here, you walkers, your ruining my hunt'. Different outcome I bet.

True but the walkers don’t pay to use the county forest hunters do. Like conservation authorities only hunters pay to use but if your walking or mushroom picking it’s free. It’s our dollars that keep it going it’s sad we have to suffer from it.
