Control deer pending
I just checked my Control Deer tag and it's still pending, while it's supposed to be announced on Aug 1.
Could anybody say if it is only my case and if it's not what is the cause of the delay?
Thanks!

Announced Aug 1 would imply application submitted before this. Not sure how you applied before August 1. The application period this year was August 1 to August 31 with results to be released Oct 10th.

Always October for controlled results-never earlier. Does not make sense, but many other things also do not...........

The new tag system implemented in doesn't make sense either. Before, you tagged the animal and if you were stopped by the Ministry then there was no question you used the tag on the animal. Now? Anyone can just photocopy tags and re-use them because you don't have to report until a month after the season is over... Just seems like it gives poachers too much breathing room. How is a Ministry officer supposed to know a tag is being re-used or not if the tag is not reported yet? Idk, it seems to be going well so far but we won't know it isn't until the deer numbers plummet.

When was the last time you were stopped by a CO? I don't think poachers have too much to worry about, tags or not.

i get stopped my COs every deer controlled hunt.
new tag system is B/s if anyone wanted to they can save the pdf file they give you for the tag, you dont have to tag the deer right away, so if someone wanted to they can print as many tags as they want and tag the deer, if you dont get stopped you can just keep tagging deer like it was your first. i dont get why they would change the tag system it makes no sense at all. but like someone said, nothing really makes sense anymore it feels like.

Personally, I find it much easier to get tags now. Just click a few buttons on the computer and print, don't need to call the MNR and head to Canadian tire anymore. I hope this was their intention instead of just saving a few bucks from printing costs. I just hope this doesn't lead to us not being able to get additional tags in a few years from poachers filling 10 commercial freezers a season.
