Downriggers
I am looking at doing more fishing in the spring/summer now that I have a new boat to play with. My question is what downriggers should I get? Would you guys recommend electric units or manual units? My boat came pre-wired for electric downriggers so installation should not be an issue.
On my old boat I dominantly used dipsey divers and had a small manual cannon downrigger that I used off the back and it worked OK but I only used it once or twice on Lake Ontario - I sold it with the boat.
Thanks - John

I am sure there any many good brands out there but I have only used the cannon mini mag electrics and found them to be very reliable.... Have cannon manuals too but with electrics, there is no going back

Do yourself a favour and get a pair of Scotty electrics, they're fast, don't need to power down. I've had a pair since '96 and haven't had any problems. People that used to use Canons, Big Jons and others have mostly moved to Scottys.
