I don't know what the differences are but I guess there many reasons to buy a firearm, mine was to try something different and extend my gun season..... So I did my research and bought something that had a lot of good reviews and was not too expensive...(that was my criteria) it has served me well.

I like my CVA Wolf and it shoots good. Kills the same as the Accura (dead is dead)....

Whatever you decide on, enjoy it (have fun-they are nice to shoot)

i think some people take things a wee bit serious when someona speaks of a gun they have if they feel its slighted...

i never knew speaking about a muzzleloader if its based on safety or cleaning could be held in same vein as saying their kids are crackheads lol
but pride in your firearm is a good thing...

anyways you cant go wrong with Thomspon Center they are american made and owned by Smith and Wesson so their guns will be supported for some time and ive never heard one person having one problem with one of their guns... the dvd that comes with it is excellent for a new mz hunter..

the impact is a nice econo mz i bought one for the father in law, wife has a omega.. my father has a triumph and an omega, have friends with pro hunters encores etc etc all good

but for the cash TC omega is best deal around, simple cleaning, quiet and easy to load and remove 209 primer , very few moving parts = very reliable, barrells are bedded properly in stock and they shoot lights out.

i quit using shotguns long ago and use only mz in both mz and deer season...

I have had thoughts in the back of my head like yours, one thing I have been reading a lot is that 3 pellets is almost useless in a barrel length that you would buy for deer hunting. 100gr of powder is way more than what is needed and the extra 50gr just ends up on the ground in front of you. I know a number of people here have played with loads and nobody has had their most accurate with 150gr or powder, some have used 80gr (1 50gr pellet and 1 30gr pellet) and lots of guys run 100gr.

we used pyrodex and 777 pellets in 150, 130, 120 grain combos... but found when we went to loose powder we could really tune in our mz...

125 grains for the TCs and 90 for the flints seem ideal.

we use goex FFF for the flint and american pioneer yukon gold in the 2 omegas... loose powder is much cheaper ( 25$ ) for a jug than a box of pellets. ( you couldnt use 20$ worth of ammo a year practicing and huntin which is great ).

I think for you, your two options would be the CVA Wolf or the TC Impact.
They will both function and kill like any other.
Personally, I like TC products.

I have been told and read the same thing but I know my gun shoots 3 50grn pellets way better than it does 2 so there must me some extra burn off. as to how much? I have no idea. All I know is that I'm crazy accurate with it past 100yards and its repeatable shot after shot

The blackpowder is not all burned in the short barrels of these guns, maybe in a long barrel but in a short barrel you are blasting a lot of powder out the muzzle and it is not actually doing anything to the bullet. Maybe your load is actually 120gr but you are using 3 pellets, maybe 125gr, something like that.

Does that make sense? I know of a few people who have shot with white sheets out in front of them to get an idea of how much unburned powder if leaving the muzzle.
