The Sutton River is simply an amazing place to fish for specks .
We did this trip back in 1982 , 4 of us , myself, my brother and my friend who owns the plane and his friend, we flew from Cambridge area , off of Puslinch Lake where my friend keeps his Cessna 185 on floats . Our trip was only for 4 days , far too short in my estimation, we stayed out of Alberts camp , and he and one of his guides Mike took us down river for some truly fantastic fishing .
I sure would love to do it again, but unfortunately my older brother has passed away ,and the trip would not be the same , enjoyable yes but not the same. Allthough i do have lots of pictures of our trip as a reminder and great memories.
We /i also started off by using spinning tackle but i switched to a fly fishing outfit the second day, upon my first hit and hookup on the fly tackle , the whoop i let out , i think everyone back home heard it .
As i said at first , our trip was planned for 4 days only , but a storm set in and held us up for 2 days, unable to fly out , so we fished Hawely Lake for lake trout, where we also saw a couple of polar bears swimming .The Sutton River actually starts further south in Sutton Lake.
Truly an amazing fishing experience .
Our trip was the first week of August, during the day , blackflys and horseflys were very abundant, in the evening it was hordes and hordes of mosquitos.
Day time temperatures were very pleasant but at night it was cold enough to freeze the water in our pails to 1/4 inch thickness.
