For storing MuzzleLoaders after cleaning I use an ample supply Fluid Film. Before loading the next year you have to clean to remove all the fluid Film. I shoot black powder in all my muzzleloaders, I have a TC White Mountain Carbine (31yrs), I have use FF for almost every year , I had started using 50 motor oil until FF came onto the market. My carbine still shoots amazing.

Fluid film is a very good barrier against rust and has been tested in the harshest conditions. It's pure lanolin. Make sure the bore is perfectly clean first.
