Article says 275m as the max. distance for a slug to travel ! I wouldn't want to bet my life on that. I'd think at least a km if the trajectory angle was high.

Did you actually read the article? It clearly states there is a controlled hunt going on.

"Extra hunting precautions should be taken in places like Oxford County, where the close call happened and where a deer hunt that began Monday runs until Sunday, Hazboun said.
Only shotguns and muzzle-loading guns are allowed to be used in the area during the seven-day hunt."

More a comment in regards to the Published Headline as the culprit being a 'Shotgun' ... when they found a 1/2 hole (.50 cal) in the vehicles side that could have come from either gun.

Ontario Provincial Police — now looking for the suspected hunter — found a half-inch hole in the vehicle near the trunk on the passenger side.

“They believe it’s going to be a shotgun slug,” OPP Const. Stacey Culbert said Friday of the fragment retrieved from the car. “There was actually a fairly large hole.”
