I don't know that its all that cheaper FMC to buy. Ignoring any differences in the quality of meat ( checked what goes into your store bought hamburger??)
A free range 14 pd (small) Turkey for Christmas dinner will run you $40-$50.
http://www.tradingpostqualityfoods.c...ekly-specials/
Price of a couple shells and your tags for a couple Turkey a year.
I have about 16 pounds of combined Duck and Goose in the freezer. Am pretty sure 15 pounds of chicken will cost a lot more than the cost of a waterfall stamp, a box of shells and some gas for the motor. Roughly $50-$60, so it works out to about $4.00/pound. Im certain chicken breast and legs cost more, especially if you buy free range/organic....
An average sized Ontario Bear is around 200pds and that will net about 50pds.
Know my friends buck was 140pds dressed, and he got 100 pounds of combined ground/chops/steak/roast.
It cost him one slug and his tag.
So lets say you have a good year and can put
2 Turkey in the freezer, 50 pounds Bear, 100 pounds venison in the freezer.
For the cost of tags and some basic associated cost.
Roughly 200 pounds of meat, for very little cost.
Even at an average cost of $10/pd (likely low) at the grocery store your looking at $2,000
Couple years ago I did a bulk buy of meat. It cost me close to $3,000 for combined beef/chicken/fish. Was enough to feed 3 for a year. Know for a fact 200 pounds we likely wouldn't eat in a year.
As stated, yes there are upfront cost in gear, but if taken care of you get years and years out of it.

A rational debate does not include personal insults.

No I have not, that statement is untrue. I always attack the idea , not the person, but you take it personally, which is NOT the same thing.
