From 3 diferent 270 chose which is the hardest hitting and you can handle (shoot accurately)
Get the semi auto you won't regret later
(but never count that you going to have a chance to fire two shots accurately )
get the best scope you can afford 4 x 10-15
And never shoot farer than 300 meter ( not worth wounding and loosing the game )
Only make double lung shots
sight in dead zero on 100m.. if the game is farer than 100 m (and not farer than 300m)
aim 4 in below the top back fur line and fire...
Don't go hunting until you can't shoot the Loony on 100 and 200 m (from bench)
Good luck....

Has too much time on their hands
If you're interested in a Tikka I was handling a T3 Forest (wood stock) in .270 WSM today at Accuracy Plus in Peterborough. Brand new for $699. I think they had a few left.
I almost bought it but didn't need a new hunting rifle as much as I wanted a new "toy" so I took home something else instead.

I purchased a T3 Forest in 270 win and it is an excellent gun. The only thing I can say between the 270 win v. 270 wsm is that in my opinion the extra recoil and price of the wsm was not worth it for me. The vast majority of my shots are between 50-150 yards away.

270WSM costs a lot to shoot. Ammo is very expensive. Unless you plan on shooting deer at 500m on a regular basis I would just go with the 270WIN.
I owned a 270WSM. I sold it. I dont regret it one bit.
EDIT - Heres a 270 for sale on the forum right now

I think that's the reason behind the blowout price of the Tikka T3 (and the release of the T3X) and why they're mostly available in .WSM calibres. It's what's left over after all of the cheaper to shoot and more practical calibres were picked over.
