    Default 209 primers

Have always used Win 209 primers in the blue box. Picked up a 100 count of the Rem clean bore 209 primers and tried them in my Traditions Pursuit. These primers are the dirtiest thing that I have ever used!!! I actually had to pry the primer out of the breech.
Tried a few more and had the same results. Anyone else have the same issues with them or is it just me??? Still used the same 100 grain pyrodex pellets and powerbelts so nothing else changed.

Both Winchester and CCI make primers specially for muzzleloaders. I have tried them both and they work well. They make them a little less "hot" then shotgun primers and they are less dirty. Normal shotgun primers leave a "primer ring of crud" in the barrel....you can feel it when you clean. The specialty primers are trying to reduce that ring.

They work fine in my Traditions, only have 20 left out of 100.
