    Default Training weather

Well it's nice to finally see some snow falling again but the break in weather has allowed for some training to continue. Did some pile work with the dog the other day, figured I'd share a picture of him loving life.

Happy boy. Now that my noba scotia duck tolling retriever has all his shots I'll be taking him to the marsh to smell the smells, get dirty, and do some bumper training as well.
He only brings is back to within 10 feet. If I have him on a rope he easily comes the rest of the way with some pulling of the slack. If he is really excited he comes all the way back. Takes a bit to get him worked up and excited.

    How about you?

Work on getting him excited. If he's a pup get right down on the ground when he's running back. You want him to just have fun. Don't reach to take the bumper too quick, get down and call him in/onto you and praise him up with it in his mouth. Limit yourself to how many retrieves he gets initially. You don't want him getting bored. 2 or 3 retrieves every other day or so is more than enough. Get him out to explore different types of cover and just bond with him.

    Great advice!
