    What style of hunting did you have in mind? With the breeding you suspect, he could make a good deer hound (pursuit or blood trailing). This is a great time of year to find out if he has an interest in rabbits. Get him on scent and see what happens. Don't be discouraged if nothing happens the first few times out. But if the fever finally hits him, you'll know it!

    I think he would make an excellent deer hound. But I'm not sure the missus wants that. I think I need to train her first. lol

    I've never hunted rabbit. I'd like to try. It might be a good opportunity for both me and the pooch. But I think I'm going to try shed hunting to start, to get a feel for what he can do. I need some training too, to be honest. Baby steps.
