Nothing irritates me more then people using initial to make comments: now does E.B.R. stand for Electric Bike Review (E.B.R.) or perhaps European Business Register (E.B. R.), or possibly some reference to the European Bartender School Register (E.B.R.) all of which came up when I typed E.B.R. into my computer search engine none of which seem to have much bearing on the Hunter Safety course? Participating in the Environmental Bill of Rights process (recently renamed Environmental Registry) is not as as important as safe gun handling or game identification. Not even close. The Hunters Safety course should remain focused on safe hunting and not politics.

Yes, there should also be more covered on ways to hunt. What Calibre for what game, for example.

There should be more hands on training with range time for your pal course as well. Funny how just about every Firearms course I know is given at a gun club, but most of the successful graduates have never fired a firearm.

Can you imagine driver's ed courses were you get your license to a 2.5 ton death machine, and have never even turned the car on?

Teach them the rules of the road, make them sit in the car show you were the brake, throttle and controls are but never teach them to drive. That is how they teach the firearms course.

It blows my mind that every person who gets a PAL didn't have to actually shoot a gun to get it. I know people who, after taking the course, and passing, are still afraid to shoot thier guns because they actually have no idea how to. Its rediculous.

When I took mine, we did rifle and skeet shooting. That gun club has since been shut down, an the 407 runs right through the property.

my safety and hunting course i took was instructed by two retired RCMP officers, they did a well job. they had a bunch of bolt action rifles, pump shotguns, lever actions and i think semi auto .22s. he gave us alot fo time to actually handle the guns and taught each of us how to actually load handle etc. ive heard alot of places dont even teach you how to handle the gun for the most part. we had like 3 hours of hands on with he firearms. he did a very well job. if anyone wants the link to the site i can send u a pm hes in Brampton i believe.

they have also updated the hunting course last year. there are more in depth questions about WMUs and ethical situations.

i think the hunting test was about 100 questions. non restricted test was about the same with he hands on as well.

People have a hard enough time paying attention in the course as it is. Id rather them be focused on safety aspects then politics
