SmartOut Ontario - android app for outdoorsmen
I've created a smart phone app (Android only) to help with fishing and hunting seasons and maps. Basically it has:
- Map of Fisheries Management Zones (FMZ)
- Fishing Seasons by Zone (FMZ)
- Additional Fishing Opportunities (locations displayed on the map where known)
- Exceptions to zone regulations (locations displayed on the map where known)
- Map of Wildlife Management Units (WMU)
- Hunting seasons by game category (Migratory Birds, Deer e.t.c.)
- Hunting seasons by WMU - all seasons for all game in a given WMU
- Southern Ontario Sunday gun hunting layer on WMU map.
- Southern Ontario .275 Calibre layer on WMU map (small same hunting restriction for rifle).
- User Marks - ability to create or update saved location with specially designed outdoors icons.
- User Marks can be imported from handheld GPS that supports gpx (Garmin 62, 64, Rino e.t.c)
- User Marks can be exported and used on any device that supports *.gpx or software such as Google Maps on PC.
Long click anywhere on the map allows to open seasons for this location. Hunting and fishing seasons are presented in familiar format, as in official regulation summaries, but at the same time much easier to look up. Ontario residents hunting seasons are shown by default (can be changed to non-residents in Settings). Your User Marks are displayed on both WMU and FMZ maps.
The app is about 10 MB download (from Google Play) and it's free!
Check it out - maybe you will find it useful.

He's going to get us all addicted to the app and then charge for the upgrade..
....That being said. I WILL download it next time I have WIFi, and get addicted along with everyone else
Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.

LOL!
Good idea!
But seriously - not really. What you see now in the app (current set of features) I'm planning to maintain as is, free. So I will update the seasons as they come out, correct errors e.t.c.
But if, in future, I decide to do whole lot of work and add some substantial new parts to it (e.g. public/conservation hunting areas, bookmarks e.t.c.) - then yes, these new features might be paid.

See told you guys...upgrade and you'll have to pay.
No no..just razing you.
Don't mind paying a fair price for a quality product.
