Thumbs down Fed Issue #32 - today's budget and taxes going up again.

Well, today we get screwed again by the Liberals, wondering what more they can take from families and small business. (NOT thumbs up... stickem up and hand over the money)

Just a reminder of what they have done.

To keep it "acceptable" to the lefties I will take it from CBC .... THEN add my comments.
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/fede...2017-1.4032898

Here are highlights from the 2017 federal budget:

■Deficit: $28.5 billion, up from $25.4 billion projected in the fall.
■Trend: Higher deficits for next three years before dipping to $18.8 billion in 2021-22.
■Housing: $11.2 billion over 11 years, already budgeted, will go to a national housing strategy.
■Child care: $7 billion over 10 years, already budgeted, for new spaces, starting 2018-19.
■Indigenous: $3.4 billion in new money over five years for infrastructure, health and education.
■Defence: $8.4 billion in capital spending for equipment pushed forward to 2035.
■Care givers: New care-giving benefit up to 15 weeks, starting next year.
■Skills: New agency to research and measure skills development, starting 2018-19.
■Innovation: $950 million over five years to support business-led "superclusters."
■Startups: $400 million over three years for a new venture capital catalyst initiative.
■Families: Option to extend parental leave up to 18 months.
■Uber tax: GST to be collected on ride-sharing services.
■Sin taxes: One cent more on a bottle of wine, five cents on 24 case of beer.
■Bye-bye: No more Canada Savings Bonds.
■Transit credit killed: 15 per cent public transit tax credit phased out this year.

Debt .... UP .... no surprise
Future Debt -..... WAY UP ... no surprise the current young generation is SO screwed!!!
Housing .... not sure what they are thinking here.
Child care ... aren't schools closing and the population aging ..... raise for his nannies ????
Skills .... did they just remove a bunch of education tax savings ....
Superclusters ........ no idea what they are thinking yet ..... other than maybe a new buzz word.
Startups .... betting they spend more on studies than helping.
Parental care ..... what company is going to want to loose a person for over a year??
    Uber tax ..... it's a service .... yawn
Sin tax .... waste of time and money, probably costs more to change than it will gain.
Savings Bonds .... where will that debt go?
Transit tax credit .... so much for being green and encouraging transit and at the same time screwing the poor that don't have vehicles.

    Screwed again .....

Debt and deficits: Yep, no surprise. From a very small surplus when they took over to 29b and counting.
Housing: If the GTA and Vancouver are indicators clearly we are short. If the GTA is to absorb 30% of all immigration and the influx of Canadians. "good", the feds can help pay for the much needed housing starts.

"Child care/families": Our birth rate is low, its to encourage people to procreate which Im fine with, but as a single person damn if Im not tired of subsidizing everyone, without really ever seeing help for single parents (this group could really use a cup of coffee).../singles.

"Skills, New Agency: Sounds like an agency filled with ivory tower public servant academics who will do nothing but study after study after study and make lots of money..

Start ups: 400mm, lol good god with the money they throw around you'd think one of the primary job sources for the middle class might receive something more than a crumb.......

CSBs will be phased out as they mature. They aren't popular and I doubt they raise very much at all, so they will just raise whatever amount they happen to be through normal channels

    Tax credit:
Mixed thoughts here. On the one hand people who can't afford a lot, and certainly won't like Carbon Taxes, can certainly use the 15% credit on X (which wouldn't be a large sum). On the other hand, who benefits the most?

Well lets look at the GTA and Go Transit.
Well off, white collar people commuting into the GTA who on average spend around $250/month or call it $3,000/year.
    1) Across Canada that likely "cost" the feds a fair bit of coin
    2) Sorry, but the majority of those people are a lot better off than those who rely on the TTC....and quite likely 70% of the population..
    3) Its time people outside big cities, stop subsidizing the lifestyles of big cities. What about those rural people who don't have subsidized public transit......drive pretty far to work, for groceries.....and now paying Carbon Taxes?
/points at massive debt provincially and federally, obviously the big cities are big drains with caviar taste.....

    In short "good"
And I say all of that as someone who for years had my life subsidized in a lot of ways by "everyone" else.

Did you check out the "dodge ball" approach to the hyper inflated real estate speculation issue? They avoided it like poison. It's almost like they're deferring to the provinces to let them take the heat, duplicitous basta**s that they are. Then, they had the nerve to raise the excise tax on booze. Fack, what a bunch of layabouts.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

I have spent years riding the GO and TTC all over the GTA, a GO train alot of what you see are white collar but there are alot of students, service staff, secretaries etc. anyone that can't afford the parking or a vehicle inside the GTA. The guy pouring the coffee at 2nd cup is alot more likely to be taking the TTC or even the GO than the guy who shows up in the Audi and Mercedes. This is nothing more than a punitive action on the lower and middle income groups again.

Then there is the environment part if it, the Liebrals like to talk about the environment and if they wanted more to take the transit they would increase the credit and actually reduce the cost of transit but as this is more an example of a Liberal party exec's car. They will subsidize their PM with 2 nannies but not the student taking the GO in from Georgetown or Markham etc.

We will have to agree to disagree on "typical" Go Train riders Mosquito. I spent 25 years riding it, and I dare say the vast majority of riders are better off than the other half of the population.
Statistically people the make around 40k, the statistical mean. Which Im sure your aware means for every person at and below, theres 1 above.....

    Better idea.
How bout people in big cities carry their own weight for a change.....You call it "punitive". I call it fair given people outside dont get squat, not subsidized toll highways, not subsidized TTC, or Go trains, higher hydro rates/delivery paying for the beast that has be to fed, no nat gas, rarely corporate welfare for jobs and wealth, Airports, Ports and on and on.........Oh and Carbon taxes? Where do you think the vast majority of industry and pollution is? Rural Canada? So yet again punitive taxes on them for "your" (note quotes) gluttony
    /here's a fiddle.

Why does so much need to be subsidized, or given credits? Obviously we are taxed too much. Why? Obviously trying to pay for everything, living beyond on our means.

Maybe as with "real life" people wont lose their appetite for big spending until they start paying......for it.

Dont get me wrong, you know Im no fan of tax and spend.
    /points at debt
/points at Liberal votes bases (big cities)
/points at people in them reaping benfits of the spending, then expecting everyone else to help pay for it.

Honestly, while I am no fan of this admin, or their ways. Its past time the cities start carrying their weight. Why do you think Mike Harris down loaded so much on to them and probably wanted to do more.......

Realized I forgot to comment on the "Defence: $8.4 billion in capital spending for equipment pushed forward to 2035."

Once again the military is screwed again too...

As for that and the tax credit I would call killing it punitive, the Liberal's excel at this kind of screwing of the low and middle incomes.... Perhaps the majority on the GO probably didn't even know of it or use it but those that needed the money have now lost it. As with the usual Liberal policies they hurt the vulnerable and their supporters and leaders in the Mercedes don't care. We won't see a study by this gov't on how many end up having to move or can't afford things they used to like food and books:
    1) Rent and food after losing this credit.
    2) kids that aren't in music and arts programs that aren't now.
    3) kids in sports that aren't now.

Outside the 9 to 5 crowd a huge portion of the ones I used to ride with (flex hours) were students, staff for services etc. and on the TTC it was even more so. That loss of the credit to the "majority" won't matter, but the Liberals have always excelled at the us and them and I look at that minority that are now out a couple hundred dollars.

    http://www.transitpass.ca/about_e.php
What does the tax credit for public transit mean for me?
If your monthly transit pass costs $100, the amount you can claim in 2008 would be $1,200, resulting in a tax credit of $180.00 (twelve months multiplied by 15%).

$180 to the goof in that Mercedes $500 is paying for your buddies golf game and a few drinks and wouldn't even cover 1 months insurance on that car BUT to the minority that may be food for a couple weeks and have taken 2 days to earn at minimum wage.
    http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/transitpass/

Now for the reality... especially for the unskilled in Toronto on the TTC
    https://ttc.ca/Fares_and_passes/Pass...ss_details.jsp
    $146*12= $1752 * 0.15 = $262.80

or for a student or senior on a pension.
116* 12 *.15 = $208.80 which at minimum wage is 19 hours of labour at student rate... over 2 days wages lost.

Just like the woman that couldn't afford her hydro Justin Trudeau and the Liberal's attitude is tough luck!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjgUhk2NCCs

After all Justin doesn't care, he took 10 vacations last year and the one at the Aga Khan's has been revealed at costing $127,000 dollars.
    http://news.nationalpost.com/news/ca...private-island

Nickle and dimeing the low and middle incomes while ruining the future with debt (which he lied about to get elected) ... Justin Trudeau and the Liberal party of Canada, elitists and liars.
