Troy chain saws
Been hearing about a Troy chain saw with some kind of spring loaded starting system. No local dealers however. Does it ring any bells or is my informant out to lunch?

Not sure about the troy-built/poulan saws. But Stihl has had easy-2-start feature on various models for years. 2 slows pulls to build tension, and a third slow pull and it starts, apparently. IMO, I can't see why anyone physically capable of cutting firewood would need this feature though. But who knows, perhaps time will change my opinion on that.

I have one of these Stihl saws. My dad bought it, and I rolled my eyes. Once I used it a few times I got used to it, and kind of like it. It works well. I can't speak for Troy's version.

Troy chain saws
I inherited a husky rancher 55 from my dad. He just doesn't have the juice to pull it anymore. The stihl easy 2 starts are nice when you get alittle older/wiser
. Haven't tried the Troy builts easy start system, but I'm sure it works well.

Sounds like the "olden" days when you would give the kick start a couple of gentle stokes to build compression and then jump on it to start the older BSA's Triumphs and Nortons. I realize the mechanical concepts are different now.

try googling the product, all I could find is that Troy chain saws are built by MTD. products.

I would agree with that for sure. I've never heard of it before so I looked it up. https://www.stihlusa.com/products/te...gy/easy2start/
I guess it might be handy for some but the day I can't pull start my saws like normal would be the day I pack it in . Looks like just one more thing to break or wear out but I'd have to see how well made it is to know for sure.
Cheers

We have 2 Stihl models like that at work, takes a bit to get used to the feature. On the good side, if you have a screwed up back/shoulder, it's one part of the body you won't stress.

Not ready to pack it in yet, even with some bone cancer but I would like to have a useable chain saw with me on the tractor and bike. Since it is made by Stihl it should be ok.
Not a fan of MTD or Poulan though.

Sounds like a small, light Stihl will be your best bet. The model numbers that end in C-BE have the easy-2-start feature and also have toolless chain tensioner. There's 4 models that have it from 32cc to 56cc.
