TC pro hunter 50 cal ML scope recommendations

Hi
I need help on which scope for my TC pro hunter muzzleloader. I already have Leupold Qr base and rings but no scope.
My budget is $500 and was looking at the Nikon Monarch 3 2.5 X 10 -42 mm BDC. or Leupold Ultimate slam 3 X 9-40 mm SABR.
I would love to keep my open sights for emergency use on the rifle in case of a broken scope.

would love to hear from other users thoughts and recommendations

Well for around $225 or so you can get a Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 1.75-5x 32mm.... I like the one I got. Great reviews too.

For 280 you can get a vortex diamond back 1.75-5x32. Haven't used it yet, but I bought one for my CVA Optima.

With the choices you listed the Ultimate Slam will work well but honestly way more scope than you need for a max range of 200 yards on that rig.

Both suggestions above are good as well. I'll throw in a Bushnell elite 2-7. Tough scopes with great warranty.
