Round ball molds
I am pricing .54 cal. RB molds and noticed that one company has a 2 ball mold for x amount of dollars and another company has a 1 hole mold for xxx amount (three times as much).
just wondering if one company's product is that superior to the other?? The companies are Lee and Lyman, but you didn't hear it from me. LOL............Daniel

The difference in price, mainly due to the material used, Lee molds are made from aluminum, Lyman molds made from steel, which lasts longer.
Aluminum molds get hot, [too hot ] very quickly and you wind up with krinkled lead balls which does not help with accuracy when shooting.

I have a friend who uses Lee molds for bullets, he said for the money they cannot be beat but has run into some problems with the halves not lining up and things like that in the past. They do have a lifetime warranty against defects but you have to get it to them for this, which makes it a pain.

I likely own about 40 molds RCBS, Lyman, LEE and a number of custom made molds. You can not go wrong with a Lee mold for the money. If you take care of it and are not a commercial molder, you will be fine.
