    Default 04-28 luck!

Hunted on the edge of a hay field/forest, heard gobbling at day break. Once down from the roost, approx. 15 hens and 3 tom's made their way to the field. Once in the open field, an amazing sight of turkey courting, strut'n, spittin'n drummin ensued. Once the hens dissipated and moved further away, 1 tom spotted my jake decoy and made a bee line to it. A 20 yrd shot took him down, all done by 7am. Weight 18 lbs, beard 11 3/4", spurs 7/8".

Really nice tom! The 28th was a lucky day for me too.

The abundance of long beards is probably due to the fact that we had little snow and ice - beards don't get froze into icy spots and pulled out!
