First open water trip of the year
I took my daughter out for early season pike on a local lake.
The weather was cold and windy, making for tough conditions. We ended up catching 10 pike and 3 smallmouth. Most of the pike were in the 16-20" range and the smallies were in the 2 pound, 14-16" range. Some of the like were dripping eggs and some had fresh wounds from larger fish positioning for territory?
She caught 7 fish to my 6 and ended the day with a beauty 36" green missile. After releasing her to finish spawning, she asked if I was jealous, no, just proud.

That smile says it all.
Learn all you can about nature. What we don't understand, we fear and what we fear, we destroy.
Teach a young person to hunt and fish, after all, someone taught you.

The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.
