    Thumbup White Bass Trip rapport

I whent down to Sturgeon Falls last weekend to hit up the white bass run, been wanting to get a white bass for sometime and had the perfect day and time of year to do it. After getting some shiners, I made it to the sturgeon river below the dam around supper time. People there where saying that the runs were over... but I didn't want to give up so I unloaded my canoe and fishing gear and paddled my way up to where the current meets the slack water in the large bay in an eddy. There was a few gentlemen on a boat fishing aswell but didn't catch nothing other then a bullhead. I ancord down in 15-18 feet and putted my rig down with shiners. An hour past and all sudden the gentleman on the boat hooked into a 10 inch white bass. Really brough my hopes up! 5 minutes past and I had a hit myself, I set the hock and started reeling. The fish was fighting real good, when I brough it up to my surprise it was a 13 1/2 inch white bass, my very first. I scrambled to put my line back in the water and the fish in the bucket to keep it fresh. I had several bullheads hit including my personal best of about 13-14 inches, all of which were released. Ive also caught a walleye that 23 inches but because nippising system gets a lot of pressure I released him to survive another day. CLose to around 8 I got another white bass but it was around 15 1/2 inches and 2 pounds. I kepted fishing until 930 and didn't get anything else. Originally I was suposs to go to Dunnville for the channel catfish but due to last minute monetary reasons I couldn't but in overall was still a very successful trip I got my first and was a good size too. Oh and they are awesome eating too.

Atracker, you should come down to Windsor mid May to fish the silver bass run in the Detroit river, you will literally catch a fish every cast, couple hundred in a day no lie....

Used to catch those off the mouth of Newcastle creek. Don't remember what Dad was fishing for ( about 65 years ago) but they went on the stringer for the pan....
