According to what I've seen, there is a vopybof the Quebec data -- a copy we've known about for two years that has been sealed and preserved by court order.
Can you post a link to a report that there is a complete copy of the registry?

Now how can Trudeau create a registry without creating a Federal Firearm Registry, can we say Quebec?? Give Quebec a bunch of money + the data and Quebec can then lease it out to other provinces.
Come on Welsh you must have also know that the data was not destroyed. Heck there are still sections of it all over the place as well.

Key point.
“Under the previous administration, a complete copy of Canadian Firearms Information System (CFIS) from April 3, 2015 was maintained by the RCMP in a secure location due to an investigation by the Information Commissioner into an Access to Information request received in March 2012,” Bardsley said.
Another copy, this one just containing the Quebec gun registry records requested by the Information Commissioner is kept under seal by the court while the case is being heard.

Uh ... except that other provinces haven't asked for this and the federal government can't force them to do it, so you don't get a national registry that way.

Nobody knows this. You believe it. There's a difference.
I asked for a report and you give me an opinion column by Brian Lilley. Opinion columns typically play fast and loose with the facts and Lilley is, furthermore, one of Canada's least accurate journalists.
Instead of relying on Lilley, I read Lilley's source, a statement by Goodale. That statement does not say what Lilley claims it says. In fact, it says the opposite: that all non-Quebec records were destroyed before the "complete copy" Lilley refers to was made.
The copy that exists is a complete copy of the registry, including Quebec LGR data and restricted/prohib data for other provinces.
Mistaking belief for knowledge is a mistake.

I'm not sure why anyone would argue about the past registry info? If it does exist, it's all outdated and worthless info now. Personally, I don't care if the old info is out there, it's all a moot point now.

Has too much time on their hands
..... well so much for Supreme court decisions and the laws of Canada .... Let's add a bit more detail.
http://www.torontosun.com/2017/06/15...-to-destroy-it
Goodale’s press secretary, Scott Bardsley, confirmed to me via email that two copies of the registry still exist all thanks to Harper era Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney.
Yes, that’s right, there are still copies of parts of the gun registry and it is thanks to the Conservatives and not the Liberals.
What is significant about the date of April 3, 2015 is that it is exactly one week prior to the date the RCMP claims they began destruction of all the Quebec registry records. Testifying before a Commons committee on June 4, 2015, Deputy Commissioner Peter Henschel told MPs the Quebec records had been destroyed, just like the records for the rest of Canada.
“The RCMP deleted the remaining Quebec records from the Canadian Firearms Information System between April 10 to April 12, 2015,” Henschel said.
Turns out, that testimony wasn’t true and now the hard drive copy the Mounties have will be turned over to Quebec, after the passage of bill C-52, to allow the province to start their own gun registry.
May 5, 2012 - C-19, the Ending the Long-gun Registry Act, receives Royal Assent and becomes law
October 26-31, 2012 - all of the long-gun registry data outside of Quebec is deleted by the RCMP
March 27, 2015 - The Supreme Court rules that Quebec has no legal right to the registry data and Parliament can have it deleted
April 3, 2015 - RCMP make a full backup of all data in the Canadian Firearms Information System including the Quebec portion of the registry
April 10-12, 2015 - RCMP deletes the Quebec portion of the registry but not backup they have placed on a hard drive
October 19, 2015 - Justin Trudeau and the Liberals replace Stephen Harper and the Conservatives after winning the election
June 9, 2017 - Liberal introduce bill C-52 offering Quebec the registry data, despite their election promise not to start a new gun registry
.
.... seems Blaney shouldn't even have got a passing grade when graded by firearms groups.... "F" IF Goodale isn't creating fiction! Now the Lib's don't have to create a new one.... So it suggest there are two copies, the full ??? and the Quebec only copies! Guess I had better watch Brian Lilley and theRebel, they will cover stories that the Libs don't want Canadians to know and won't lie like CBC so unless we give the Liebrals the boot in 2019 I would bet they will restore the full one (???) after the next election. The list is out of date but it would take little legislation to require firearm owners to verify what they have and register what they have that isn't on their list ....
Thought I would check Blaney's feeds, on FB,etc. ... believe Goodale that it was Blaney's doing or believe Blaney .... much more likely to believe Blaney myself .... time will tell.
"
Steven Blaney
In regards to the wasteful and ineffective long-gun registry, I would like to clearly state the facts. While complying with the injunction for the Quebec portion of the long gun registry, I ordered a full destruction of the registry, anything else would be contrary to the law and the will of Parliament."

The April 3 complete copy was made AFTER the non-Quebec LGR records were deleted. That copy was sealed and retained by COURT ORDER following a challenge by the information commissioner, not the Quebec government.
Nothing here was contrary to the law.
