Durham Regional Forest

Just wondering, anyone out there hunt for deer in the Durham Regional Forest tracts that permit it? I did some scouting in Pefferlaw tract tonight. I saw tracks and even deer in one of the adjacent fields, but found the land to be pretty swampy and difficult to penetrate. Also assume that there are a lot of dog walkers in there. Not looking for anyone to reveal their secret spots, just curious if these tracts get much hunting pressure.

Because the hunting areas in the region are so few and far between,those forest tracts suffer tremendous pressure. For a dedicated big game hunter,no matter whether you're a bow or gun hunter,that can work to your advantage if you get deep into it and off the beaten path and can set up a ground blind and sit still for long periods of time. Give it a shot. You just never know.

Look for signs of hunters as well, it may give you ideas of where to stay away from....pruned trees 12-15' high.

Pefferlaw tract is york region.. as far as i heard its heavily hunted... also heard stories of locals leaving notes on hunters cars from keys
