Steam Clean your ML

Saw this on another forum and I think it has a lot of merit so I'll pass it on. I personally think this is brilliant, especially for the 'substitute' powders that clean up with hot water, pressurized steam would be far better.

It is AMAZING how well these things work! This is the one i have, it is called a Gideon, i got mine from Amazon, it only holds about 1-1/2 cups of water but will produce steam for 20-30 minutes on that small amount, my unit is up to full working temp in about 3 minutes, its fast! I find it only takes me about 5 minutes to clean everything. I use mine to clean the snail and Patented breeches, i pull the nipples and point the nozzle in the hole and steam for a few minutes, you need to hold the barrel with a towel or use a glove as the steel gets way to hot to hold. I also pull the locks on my guns and thoroughly clean them with steam, the hammer, and hammer face etc. Nothing in my opinion cleans Blackpowder residue and fouling like the power of steam. I would think this little steam cleaner would be a dream on inlines as well

I see they sell for $30 on Amazon.com; so cheap enough to give it a try.

This video shows a fella using a steam cleaner on a normal rifle. The idea of using steam to clean gun parts in general is a good idea.

Sounds great for all metal parts but I would not want any steam to contact the stock. Removing the barrel and lock would be wise...................Daniel

Your right Daniel...I wouldn't want steam to touch a hand rubbed on/in finish.

My Hunting ML (Traditions) has nylon stock and butt, so not an issue and I usually have them off when I'm cleaning the gun anyway.

I think I'm m going to get one of these, the wife says we can use 'steam' for a variety of cleaning jobs around the house, so it will be used for other things as well .
