Has too much time on their hands
The optics on this is terrible on so many levels.
This guy is a Canadian citizen whether we like it or not. He was born here into a family who's loyalty to the country of Canada is dubious at best. He and his family took up arms against Canada and her allies in the Afgan War. He has admitted to killing Speer and wounding Morris along with a host of other things during the war. These confessions have been made during a period which Khadr was allegedly tortured (a military judge ruled he was not being tortured). The Obama admin started pressuring the Canadian government to take him because they didn't have the willpower to try a child for war crimes. Canadian government relented, Khadr was repatriated to serve out his remaining time and after he was done he decided to sue the government for violating his rights per the Supreme Court's ruling. Rather than risk a court battle that they would probably lose, the Canadian government cut him a cheque to go away.
We should have dealt with this clown from the very beginning. As soon as the US picked him up, we should have been asking for him to be returned to be charged with High Treason and we should have been lobbying the court to try him as an adult. He was old enough to pick up a firearm and grenades and shoot at soldiers, he is old enough to take the consequences of those actions under our laws. If the US didn't want to give him up, then so be it. When other Canadians run afoul of the law in other countries, the person is under the country's jurisdiction and bound to follow the legal system of that country. However, the government of Canada still has certain responsibilities to the Canadian (that includes even this guy). However, the government didn't have the intestinal fortitude to deal with him at the time and then made even more mistakes when they gave the information they obtained it their interrogations with him to the US.
There is alot to be mad about this situation. But the responsibility is on the government and it's agencies to conduct itself within the law when dealing with it's citizens. The rights that the Supreme Court ruled were violated is the the same rights all of us have and giving a pass to one Canadian's rights being violated opens a pandora's box to allow other Canadian's rights to be violated.
Some may think I am defending Khadr. I am not. I think he was a willing combatant in a war despite him being 15 at the time. I think he is a traitor to Canada and should be arrested and tried as such. I don't believe for a second he is apologetic for his actions and that he has changed his beliefs despite what he has said. Actions speak louder than words and if he was truly apologetic, he would be voluntarily turning that money over to Speer's widow and Morris and quietly be thankful that he is alive today.

Shutting the border would send US manufacturers into a death dive. There are so many "parts and components/chemicals that come out of Canada which are not being made in the states. 60 to 70% of trucks picking up produce in the states are heading to Canada. Even seed for crops comes out of the states. The EPA in the states has in some cases made it impossible to even produce something needed for manufacturing. US wood product producers may scream about soft wood, but the EPA would prevent them from ever being able to meet demand for building supplies in the US.
I tough stand yes. But they don't want to shoot themself in the foot.

I was thinking that too. Do enough people care anymore ?
Liberal hug-a-thug policies are a real embarrassment to our great country. I hope Trump goes off like a bomb and embarrasses Mr Hair.

With openly protectionist policies of the Trump Administration, their open warfare-slash and burn attitude reigning in the over-zealous Obama bureaucrats that the EPA has allowed to run amok since The Clinton years,I'm fairly certain our government has just handed the Americans a lit stick of TNT that will come back to blow us the he** up.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Then you better learn to go without fresh fruits and vegetables 8 to 10 months of the year. Canada had better open a boat load of deep water ports for all the consumer goods that are imported to Canada through US and Mexican ports.

Brian Lilley lists off the realities you will never hear on CBC or the media machine.
Once again theRebel is the only one pointing out the facts.... he missed who Omar's dad was and the arrest of Omar's sister on terror charges but I think it wasn't his intention, pointing out what the UN says about 15 year olds and child soldiers is a very good point.

A very troubling decision by Jr. and staff.
Terrorist/enemy combatants are not the same under the Geneva Convention nor should they be. To even consider this abortion as a viable legitimate combatant who was wronged after battle is moral depravity.
Let the courts determine the merits of his actual treatment ONLY because he has standing as a CDN citizen. However those same citizen "benefits" that he uses to sue for 60 million CAD should be the same liabilities that crucify him as a treasonous little bastXXd.
Sleep depravity as "torture" is rich.
When you go thru Navy SERE training you go thru more torture than he allegedly received. We water board our own troops, seems pretty chicken chit for him to cry about his treatment.
Like I said on here years ago on this topic, I'll save my tears for Tabitha Speers and cheer her awarded settlement from Khadr of 134 Million USD.

Yup and the Liberals continue to be in power and probably get voted in again. Crazy world we live in and very disturbing/disgusting how the people that voted them in can live with themselves.

.... and CBC is telling people he deserves it.... The reality that he was 15 and child soldiers according to the UN are UNDER 15 .... and he wasn't even a soldier, he was a terrorist, a criminal, a murderer who also built IED's .... IF Jonathan Kay and CBC actually believe the sh** they write they are mentally and morally completely unhinged from reality!

What was the kid's name that Killed his mom in Coburg? Cody Barnoski? He was tried as an adult and sentenced, no big deal, judges do it every day, except weekends and holidays.
Besides the firefight lasted 4 friggin hours, plenty time for Kahdr to surrender if inclined. You don't spool up a gunship for air support over a short/minor contact with the enemy.
