I'm admittedly pretty green to all this, and therefore need some clarification; I applied online for an archery bull hunt in 48, that was my primary. My secondary was an archery Cow hunt in 48. Yesterday in the mail I received a calf tag valid for all WMU's except 48, 55, 57, and 65. I am not quite sure I understand the draw process. Why would I be given any kind of tag other than what I applied for? What are the method of take limitations on this calf tag?

You were unsuccessful in the draw. Everybody by default gets a calf tag valid in most of Ontario, except the WMUs you quoted. If you were successful in the draw, the validation for a bull in 48 would have been printed on the tag.
Does anybody know why they end the moose draw application periods in late May, but it takes 2 months to get results out? Many Western US states get draw results released in March/April/May so guys can plan their hunts and book holidays. Surely it doesn't take the computer 2 months to run the draw...

Our fabulous government at work. No results available by either phone or web. Fantastic. Maybe they aren't aware that today is August 1. Perhaps someone should drop them a line to let them know that a province full of moose hunters are anxiously trying to get their results.

Thanks Marx, I wasn't aware that as a consolation applicants would be awarded a calf tag.
If I understand the regs correctly then, the method of take is governed then by the season in the unit which you are hunting? So the calf could be taken in either gun or bow season?
