You do realize that trade goes both ways and there is no way that any US companies manufacturing in the US can get by without the resources from China at the prices that they buy them from China.

You cannot buy anything that have not been touched by China, the US does not have the available resources for that, the best way to shoot yourself in the foot is to talk like you are talking.

Of course China will defend N. Korea if the US attacks first. Wouldn't the US defend it's allies if they were the result of an attack? Didn't America's allies come to her defense in 2001? You are only telling half the story. China did say that it will defend N. Korea if it is attacked by the US but China also said if N. Korea decides to attack the US, N. Korea is on it's own against any reprisals which will come.

Thank God you aren't in any position to start an armed conflict. There are more options than simply this one. Financial sanctions, diplomacy, or having China deal with their junkyard dog are three ways to deal with this problem. And as far as crazy guy with the hair cut, I wouldn't necessary point fingers because your crazy guy shouldn't be in charge of a Twitter account let alone in charge of the launch codes.

China is looking out for their best interests. One of those interests is having a buffer between it and a US aligned/controlled country/area. However, it also realizes that if Crazy Leader decides to push too far, the world wouldn't look too kindly on China protecting Crazy Leader. As far as your "stop trading with them all together" comment, best of luck with that. Let's see how far your resolve goes when people start getting laid off because the parts or goods they rely on to do their job (either in manufacturing or retail) aren't coming in from China. Let's see how far you are willing to go to pay for more expensive items because you no longer have a cheap labour alternative for manufactured goods. For a country which is dependent on Walmart, I am going to forecast not too far.

You want to take your ball and go home like a spoiled brat because China won't let you do whatever you want. Six year old children understand you don't always get to do whatever you want and not everyone agrees with you all of the time. If you are ready to cut ties with a country because they don't always fall into step with you, you are going to have a lonely existence.

Kim launches missiles. US and it's Allies launch counter measures with hopefully great success. US and Allied forces begin to destroy N. Korea's Surface/Sub-surface fleet, and any Aircraft dumb enough to cross the shore line. China Anexes N. Korea. US and it's Allies DON'T object.

China is not our friend because we resist their take over of Taiwan and because we steadily condemn their human right violations - North Korea is not our friend because we stopped them from taking over South Korea by force - Russia is not our friend because we stopped them from keeping eastern Europe - and as far as Germany I believe they are our friends - sure you will have counties that don't like you when you stand up for freedom and justice - you should know that

So ok - let NK get nuclear weapons then Japan and South Korea will want them - then every country will want them - then guess what - pretty some just about every country will have nuclear weapons and there will be a much much greater chance of a nuclear war because some of these countries are run by crazy people - do you want some of those crazies over in the middle east to have nuclear weapons - financial sanctions, diplomacy have not worked - they have been tried for years - I say that you got to smash NK using conventional weapons - if they resort to nuclear weapons then we flatten their country - once and for all - we tell China that they had the chance to prevent this from happening but they chose not to - and if they don't like it the hell with them
