Thank you. I'll see how it goes. I'm working on adding locations feature (saving favorite spots locally on your phone and synchronizing with Garmin GPS). If this app becomes popular enough it would make more sense to port to iPhones..

How do you ensure that the dates and zones you present as fact, are in fact, correct?

I applaud your efforts at an app but I sure wouldnt want it to tell me there was an open season in my WMU when there is not. The CO wont give a hoot if I tell him "The app said so!"

Well it's still user beware in fact the official regs have had errors in the past. There is also IhuntOntario and they don't guarantee to be perfect in fact these days nobody does. His app can only be as accurate as the Government regs.

I understand that the official government regulations have had errors, but Ive also heard, directly from a friend who is a CO, that hes had judges throw out cases where the regs had an error and caused a fine/charge against a person, or he just corrected someone and asked them to stop what they were doing as the regs were in fact wrong.

Think of it this way: Its the government tells you the wrong thing, its arguable in court and your case might get tossed. If "random Joes" app from the Google Play store tells you the wrong thing you arent getting any sympathy from any law enforcement or judge.

And that still doesnt answer my question about what checks he has in place to ensure hes giving us the right info. Blindly putting your faith into a an app giving you what is essentially legal advice isnt the smartest thing to do.

If I tell you deer season starts tomorrow are you going to believe me? No? Why not? Because its not wrapped up in a fancy app?

As anything else these days, my app has a disclaimer. This is just the way life is I guess. If you are asking how technically it is done - I use an electronic format (regulations in PDF that everybody downloads) and use copy-paste to get info as is from regs. So I don't type anything (to avoid typing errors).

But nobody can guarantee that info is 100% true. So why use it? I can only suggest my view: use it for general planning, browsing what is opening where. When you see in regs lines like "WMUs 2, 3, 4, 18A, 24, 27" - can you picture in your head where are all these WMUs? Are they adjacent or scattered? The apps allows you to visualize it. Click on a map and check in this specific area - what seasons are there. I find it convenient. But definitely definitely before actually hunting or fishing double check the regs. Unless you know your seasons by hart

P.S. fresh example or regs discrepancy: 2017 Black Bear in WMUs 26-76 in printed regs and in early electronic regs (from April 2017) was opening on Sep 6. Now if you look at electronic regs it is Sep 5!
