Be careful also when purchasing a used ML. I "purchased" one from a neighbor that needed money with the agreement he could by it back at a later date when he was better off financially. He moved away and I eventually tried it with a normal charge and the back end/nipple area blew out.

He had apparently installed a "new" nipple(SAE thread) in a Metric threaded lock and the normal charge, when ignited, detonated and blew out the SAE nipple, releasing the charge in my face.

Not a barrel rupture per se however still a dangerous event.

Good news is it didn't ruin my John Wayne good looks.........

from reading the youtube comments it sounds like he may have used smokeless powder (no smoke when it was fired) ...which would have also split it like that.

    Scary stuff....

That is what I thought right off the bat, either that or put in 100gr of smokeless rather than 100gr of FFFg.

A double charge of black should not do that to a barrel

There isn't much smoke with 209 and it makes lots of pressure.

    It's all conjecture

Think he's gonna have a Flinch from now on?
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.
