Legalities of Float hunting
Hello Everyone,
I was told that you can float hunt on a craft (under your own power aka kayak, canoe, etc...) on public water bodies as long as they are accessible publicly. Is that correct?

Not sure of your location/ but one thing I am sure of is the shot/bullet must remain on the public land you are hunting. You can't shoot and have your shot or bullets land on the private property unless you have permission, same with the game. So unless it is a really big/wide river or a lake, I am not sure how you would hunt/shoot legally... but like I said, not sure of your circumstances.

Float hunting (or as some know it as "jump" shooting) for waterfowl is absolutely legal and a long cherished tradition in Canada with a canoe or kayak. Canoe hunting for big game along shorelines is also a tradition and a fabulous way to hunt. You must be ever mindful, though, that shooting at game from water onto private land is still trespassing.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Thanks, my thoughts were taking a kayak amongst some of the islands and watersheds in Georgian bay.
