    Default Silverdale range yesterday

Hit the range to dial in my (new to me) Remmy 7600 in 30.06 and took the flinter for fun. Made smoke 10 shots on the 50 yard range. Very pleased with the performance of this build. It shoots way better than I do. Shooting a .490 ball with a .015 cotton patch and 70 gr. of ffg. I was burning patches so have to find some thicker patch material, perhaps .018 would seal better. Keep yer powder dry Pilgrims....................................Daniel146_3674.jpg146_3675.jpg

Excellent results for patch and ball...congrats on getting great results from you build.

Try some pre-lubed patches to see if that helps...see if someone can send you some bear fat, keep it authentic

Hi Mike, I'm using a lube made with Bees wax and castor oil (Moose snot). A recipe I got from a muzzle loaders page.......Daniel

Daniel, if those are your shooting patches in the pics they look quite soft. A stiff material, more linen-like, may help. The best patches I ever used with my .54 cal were .017" cotton with T/C Wonder Lube.
Beautiful rifle; one of the only guns I regret selling is my .54 flinter.
