A local business owner told me yesterday he is selling out after 30 years, business and 98+ acres. Just too much BS regs and bureaucracy.

He had engineering, permitting etc. completed with the ministry, Kawartha lakes etc, did 328K to meet standards, then was told an additional 160K was needed and another round of inspection before he could use the improvements.

After he spent another 50K on a lawyer and a threat of a lawsuit, his previous improvements and permits were suddenly approved.

WAY too much bureaucracy and inept levels of government in Ontario and has been for over a decade.

This man started a business from scratch at 21 and now at 51 has had to cut his employees down from 8-10 to he and his wife only.

How much longer do you think he will, or can, afford to sweat blood for an out of control liberal government?

Glad I did the topic as a general one .... if I covered all the closings it would just get annoying but here goes another bigger one of 200

A Woodstock plant founded in 1936 is slated to close next year, officials told about 200 employees Wednesday morning in an emergency meeting.

Employees at Firestone were informed the textile plant, which mainly produces cord material for automobile tires, would scale back production gradually and close by the end of 2018.

A company spokesperson tells CTV News that the traditional way of running a business is no longer viable, and that Transcom would be moving to an offshore operation and work at home model.

The spokesperson says the decision to close was made last fall, but delayed announcing it until after the holidays.

The decision means that 280 people in Barrie will be let go.

Maybe I will start doing these in bulk after this.... interesting it was announced about the same time as Justin's "we won't be cutting taxes" speech at Davos.
