2186 Getting Ready To Puke Fed Issue #50 - Canada to buy USED fighter jets........

Well for #50 we have the Liberal's failing our men and women in uniform again ....

They now want to buy USED fighter jets from Australia, they won't buy from Boeing because of their complaint against Bombardier... Energy East would be done and subsidized (with no Saudi Oil coming in) if it was just owned by Bombardier it seems....

Canada takes first official step to buying used fighter jets from Australia

The Canadian government has now submitted a formal expression of interest to Australia to acquire the aircraft, Public Services and Procurement Canada confirmed.

Canada began discussions in late August with the Australian government to assess the potential purchase of used F/A-18 fighter aircraft from that country

I'm worried about Canada's air force capability

Admiral Gortney: Some have called for the purchase of used legacy Hornets to address the RCAF's capability gap. This could pose problems down the road

An earlier article from CBC before the announcement ... they wanted to buy from Kuwait but they aren't for sale yet so they now want to buy the Australian ones that are even older ...

The problem, according to Sajjan, is that the Kuwait jets are not on the market yet.

"They're not currently available, but we still want to pursue every single option," he said.

National Defence has also looked at used Australian FA-18s, which include older A and B models, similar to the ones Canada began flying in the 1980s.

That's typical for Liberals. Remember the old subs the Chretien Liberals bought? Three out of the four either burnt or sank. The one that stayed afloat turned out be a "training" vessel that rarely went to sea. What a joke.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

    I'm glad we didn't get those F-35's, they're junk.

That's hard to imagine at $50M a copy. I wish someone in government, any government would grow a pair and set up our businesses to build our own.

The Liberal's bought used subs that so far as we know the only casualties have been to our own sailors.

They couldn't fire the torpedoes Canada has and have needed non ending retrofits and repairs, one of the few things I fault the Conservatives for was not scrapping them for no other reason than the safety of the crews on them.

Canada's navy plans to spend about $120 million to upgrade 36 torpedoes, but they still won't work in its four submarines without further refits, CBC News has learned.
The navy has MK-48 American torpedoes in stock, but the four British-built submarines aren't capable of firing them.
Even after the weapons are converted, Canada would still have to spend millions more to refit the submarines to fire them.

The F-35 has stealth but the costs look to be over $70M and to protect Bombardier the Liberals will do anything but going with used Hornets is just nuts and an insult to our military and to Canada. Even given their protectionist B.S. there are alternatives in the market like the Rafael or Gripen, the Gripen being a viable alternative in my opinion.

Justin said if the used Jets do not work out that they can be eventually sold again to one of the many countries he has already given millions to or to a local Carnival. He made it clear that is why the Canadian people voted him in and not the Conservatives .

The Super hornets and Euro fighters are far better then the F-35's. Russia's new jet are even better then it. The 35's have a small payload, limited patrol time of 4 hours of flight, the engines do not do well in cold and dusty climates, they're lightening prone, the software need constant maintenance. last report I read from the pentagon they named 215 issues that still need to be addressed

Used and abused, the only reason anyone or for this matter a country gets rid of old aircraft or anything, there comes a time when it's cheaper to buy a new one, then to maintain an old one. Yup, we're saving this country millions. NOT!
