Default Rabbit Hunt 2017 - have you gone yet?

    Hey guys and gals!
Was going to go rabbit hunting at a friend's family farm last weekend, but had to cancel. Making arrangements to go this coming weekend instead.

Wondering if you've been out for the fuzzy hoppers yet, and if you've had any luck.

Went out Saturday with a buddy and stomped some ceders for some snowshoe hare/grouse with know luck. Not a flush from anything. Maybe the road kill yote we saw down the road had something todo with that. I hope it died not by a car but by choking on a hare bone. LOL

I haven't targeted them specially yet, but have got a few while hunting upland birds. Don't usually start hunting them until there's a little snow on the ground.

We shot 3 hares a day up in the north bay area. Lots of cottontails around the house locally. We don't hunt them until Jan/feb tho.

I'm waiting for the shot gun hunt to end in 87D and then I will be heading out next week. Seems to be lots around this year

I have been out hunting for grouse and bunnies but no luck won't be going out again for them until Deer season is over.

I was going to go, but one of the members PM'd me as a reminder that the controlled hunt is on for deer. So I might just duck hunt instead.

    Oh darn.

Although you can hunt for small game during deer season I prefer not to. I really do not want to interrupt someone's deer hunt on crown or county land. This year sadly I cannot take the time off so I will wait until it's over and go rabbit hunting afterwards.

How come most of you wait for snow?
I'm still pretty new to rabbit hunting.

Is it just be a use the brown fur contrasts better against the white snow?
