sober hunting camp?
i know this may not even exist but i'm interested to see if it does. i'm 2.5 years sober and am looking for other hunters to hunt with occasionally or a hunt camp to join. I have been to rehab and came out the other side happy and greatful for my life- all things considered. I can be around booze and drugs and not even feel the slightest temptation to partake and i dont care if everyone else around me is doing it. But i would love to find other guys who are living sober and hunt regularly. Im a new hunter as well and am eager to learn from anybody more experienced.
I'm a red seal certified carpenter with all the tools/truck and can contribute in camp with any building/repair work. i live in the gta, but will be moving to the sticks in a couple years. Just putting this out there- i know it may be a long shot......thanks

Throughout the winter you will see guy's on here looking for a partner to go out for bunnies. Big game is pretty much over unless you bow hunt. But going on small game hunts will at least help you connect with others.

As for bigger hunt camps it would be unlikely you will be able to find one with a no alcohol rule.
Yes for no alcohol during hunting but after the days hunting is over each to their own.

Yes they do exist; our camp has a few older guys that can't drink alcohol for medical reasons, so they bring that O% Alcohol beer and drink that. No one cares, but then there are no real heavy drinkers in the camp anymore, most guys have a couple of beer before calling it a day. Kind of nice not having heavy drinkers around.
I remember the night we all sobered up, years back one of our guys almost died of alcohol poisoning and required a liver transplant. I remember the night he came by when he was really sick with liver failure. He had lost about 50 lbs and was yellow, and I mean Homer Simpson yellow. Profound impact on the camp.

Lots of camps are moving away from the heavy drinking etc.
The last camp I was with about 3 years ago, had the rule, no booze at all during the day. One or two at night, but if you got off your face, you didn't go out the next day.
When I got my cottage a couple of years ago I joined one of the neighbors with a bunch of guys he hunts with. It took one guy showing up late on day one, smelling like booze to get me to pack it in....not my scene.
OP, it won't be that hard to find some like minded individuals.

Ya. I'm sure there are guys who are ex-alcoholics who hunt. Just gotta find them.

It won't be that hard.
Heck, I'm not an ex-alcoholic, but I tend to drink PC Red Brew ( non-alcoholic) when I'm at the cottage regardless.

Our moose camp is very civil compared to lots
We party like rockstars on the first night there (no hunting the next day) after that it's all business until the last night. it would be very hard to find anyone drinking more than one beer per night on the nights when we are hunting a defiantly no drinking while the guns are out

We have a few in the evenings with dinner. We have none during the day that is too risky.
After-all it is a vacation too & we are there to have fun. lol
Nobody gets carried away & we are all ready to go the next morning...
