Oaks live more than 50 year's

And so do other species, a walnut log over at my friends sawmill is at least 137 years old, as this is the number of growth rings we counted this past Sunday.

Back to Oak , at 50 years , that's relatively a youngster in the Oak family.
Not long ago , there was a story on the National News about Oak trees growing from acorns brought over from Vimy Ridge when the W.W. 1 ended, that was 99 years ago this past Nov.

Around Sudbury the loggers are spraying Herbicide that doesn't hurt the pines... but kills the other trees.

Don't know if this is happening further south...

There may be something to the spraying... it's all farm country and there's no shortage of spraying.
