M/L season in 92C ended Dec. 10 and this story reported the horse was shot around 2PM,but,doesn't say which day. This article was filed on Dec.12 well after the season ended. Witnesses reported seeing four hunters in blaze orange on the Sunday,but,no shots were reported to be heard. That leaves two days between when the hunters were seen and the horse was found wounded. Something doesn't jive.

Sharon, I appreciate the articles and feel for the owners and the horse, however ...... as stated in the other posts there is something not right here. I read Assume , assumption far too often in the articles. The horse was not shot with a rifle but a "hunting " rifle. I for one am sick of being painted with that same brush !

I have no idea what happened. Just thought it was a good opportunity to remind us all of the bad possibilities that can happen. Whether it was a hunter or not matters not to me. The incident was simply something to think about.

perhaps i'm too sensitive , but this IMO is being blamed on hunters when as you state " I have no idea what happened" neither does the owners or the MNR but its being investigated as a hunting incident. More Ammo for the antis

Coming from a family where they had to put bright colours on their horses and the neighbours had to write "COW" on the side of the cows every year just before moose season it would not surprise me one bit if this was a hunter not being sure of their target.

Somethings don't add up to me. Southern ontario is SG, ML or Bow for deer and the 2nd controlled hunt ended the day before so if a deer was the intended target and a miss or pass through hit the horse it was not a hunter but a poacher.
Calling yotes is not very productive when wearing orange so maybe the 4 guys in orange were running hounds and somone missed? Who knows.
I am riminded of the poor horse that was "shot" by a "careless bowhunter" in hamilton a couple of years ago. It was later determined that the animal fell into an old well and cut himself on a piece of steel t-bar that had not been removed.

Just reading the one one article the wound is described in two different places,in another article its just a leg wound and a cut.Unless they have pulled a bullet out of the horse I am not convinced way to much inconsistency in this story.
