Has too much time on their hands

See through is what it allows but there is perhaps another name for what I saw on a Mannlicher a long time ago. It may have even been a custom one, now and again they have gun or collectors show on a Saturday and decades ago I went to one where the owner was in the "look at what I got but you ain't gettin close" mode. I looked and this is as close as I could find but it was for both the front and back attachments and came up like a side mount allowing the use of the iron sights but didn't look like a scope on stilts.

this one looks like a side mount but has that same appearance but IF I remember right the mounting was on the top.

I've never seen exactly the like and the display and rifle and calibre impressed me (even if not all the details), IF I remember right the display was about safari's and in some big calibre over a 8mm but it was a Mannlicher style stock.

Nope. Pretty much a 280 Remington.
