    Default spear fishing for carp

    I do some spearfishing in mexico and Belize, I'm looking to get into it more in Ontario now for Carp here and maybe walleye in Quebec. I just do free diving and I'm looking for someone to do a few trips with to Lake Erie or Lake Ontario . Its a buddy sport.. thanks guys. PM me if you want.

    Spearfishing (underwater, with a speargun) is not legal in Ontario.

    Not true. coarse fish can be taken . I have a buddy that freedives and spears hundreds of carp every year in the St Lawrence around Brockville.

    Spear = legal
    Spear gun = illegal

    Apologies as I was mistaken. Buddy does live in Brockville and he does shoot lots and lots of carp in the St Lawrence but he does it on the Quebec side where it is legal.

    Spear legal......in season...ONLY.
    Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.

    Blacklab ..... we do a bit of spearing with pole spears ...no free diving .. on the Speed river to get around the discharge by laws ... still rather have my bow tho .

    Spears cannot be possessed on or within 30 m (98 ft.) of the edge of any waterbody except when shing for carp and white sucker as described on this page. Northern Pike spearing is not allowed.
    I read this as we can spear for Carp.. suckers..
    Once again the MNR has made this clear as mud. but I'm making phone calls now to find out. I will keep you posted
