Center Fire Guns with Sights
So I was thinking of getting a new 270 Winchester Bolt action, again and was looking at some online and one thing I have noticed is that it doesn't appear you can even buy a mid price gun under a thousand with wood stock or plastic with open sights anymore.

I was in the same situation a year or so ago. The only option I could readily find/order was a CZ 550 with irons, but they are definitely over $1K now.

I wonder why they stop putting iron sights on center fires. I have hunted with people years ago where their scope fogged up take the scope off and your back in business now if something happened to your scope your screwed.

Yep, but scopes are not like they were. I know my dad had tip off rings, they only tipped off by accident and the next scope he put on he switched the rings to have one less thing go wrong.
I do not think new hunters ever learn how to shoot with irons, nobody ever sees someone shoot with irons in hunting shows, so why bother giving the option.
As an aside, you can always have some put on if you really want them, may be cheaper than buying one with sights already on it.

To cut costs. Why spend money on something that most customers never use and don't even want when you can just keep the price the same and pocket those savings?
If you want a rifle with open sights, maybe look into buying a used rifle?

There's a CZ 550 LUX .270 on gunnutz for 850$. Think new or almost new.
Great guns I just don't like the magazine's on CZ guns

Quite likely I will have to look at used but I do find it strange that there are not sights on the Center Fires be sold new today.

Check out Tradex Greatwhite as I have seen rifles on the website in .270 with iron sights .They usually have a good selection of Husquavarna Rifles in stock and from what I have herd they are great value and solid performers.
