Biggest employment drop since 2009
88,000 jobs lost last month. Over 50,000 of them in Ontario:

Wonder how much of it is related to the minimum wage raise. The article does claim that losses among minimum wage earners were not significant and that the losses were primarily higher paying part time jobs.

I wouldn't expect much more coming from The Globe trying to mitigate the job losses of "minimum wage earners" against those of "high-paying part time" jobs (whatever the hell they are). We all saw this coming. Now,it'll be fun to watch the liberal media "spin". This is just the beginning.

Well we know CBC is bought and paid for, after Wynne's win last time her first words to the CBC reporter were "thanks for all the hard work"... it is right at the FOA's expected losses ..... in the first month....I wonder what the February etc. numbers will be like.
59,300 Ontario part time jobs

A bit more detail here covering all of Canada.
Canada just lost the most jobs in nine years, with biggest drop on record in part-time work
88,000 jobs gone — economists had been expecting gain of 10,000

Canada shed a net 88,000 jobs during the month, a sharp stop to a recent stellar performance that saw 2017 produce the biggest increase in jobs since 2002. The drop reflected a record loss of 137,000 part-time jobs, and a 49,000 gain in full-time work.

I work in Stratford On.
Job loses are not a problem there.
Many factories are fighting to get their openings filled and not getting enough people.
Lots of starting openings in the $16 to $20 + range.
Where I work they are offering $16.75 to start for labourers & over $21 per hour to start for CNC operators.
They are not getting enough people to hire as other places are offering better and still not filling openings easily.

No worries. Kathleen and Trudough will hire them all at way more than minimum wage.
