Default 2 firsts for me... coyote down

I went out this morning with a buddy of mine to try our hand at some goose hunting. We had high hopes as I seen some geese in this field the day before.... Anyway just as we are talking about packing it in (close to 10am now)... we spot this coyote about 150 yds out eyeing us.... The wind is in our favour so I try a few lip squeaks but she must have heard us talking/moving seconds earlier because she doesn't pay attention to us and vanishes over the rise in the field. I get a little excited and tell my buddy I am going after her...

I end up finding her in a different field mousing. I used the treeline for cover and closed the gap to about 175 yds. With no distress calls with me I decided to scream out like a dying rabbit with my voice.... Yes with my voice.....It was pretty cool to watch her look in my direction then start running toward me. She stopped once around the 100yd mark, so I used my voice again to create a dying rabbit sound, she closes the gap to about 50 yds now... She is standing there looking in my direction. I got good wind so give her another this time quieter dying rabbit sound. She hears it, runs into the treeline and stops to look around. At that point she is 30yds from me, my gun is already up, safety off, so take the shot using my goose load, (Kent fast steel 3" BB's) and see drops in her tracks....

    So my 2 firsts are.......
1st coyote called in and shot using just my voice...
2nd..Killed my first called in (targeted) coyote with my shotgun.....

Pretty light coloured coyote, took her home and skinned her out....

Well done! That’s a cool story and nice looking pelt. I wonder how light she will be once she’s cleaned up.
