not a lawyer and without examining the original to see just how much the changes are... but it does seem like they like ISIS again ...
20 Subsection 83.18(1) of the Act is replaced by the following:
Participation in activity of terrorist group
83.18 (1) Every person who knowingly participates in or contributes to, directly or indirectly, any activity of a terrorist group for the purpose of enhancing the ability of any terrorist group to facilitate or carry out a terrorist activity is guilty of
(a) an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than10 years;
21 Section 83.181 of the Act is replaced by the following:
Leaving Canada to participate in activity of terrorist group
83.181 Every person who leaves or attempts to leave Canada, or goes or attempts to go on board a conveyance with the intent to leave Canada, for the purpose of committing an act or omission outside Canada that, if committed in Canada, would be an offence under subsection 83.18(1) is guilty of
(a) an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than 10 years;
22 Subsection 83.221(1) of the Act is replaced by the following:
Advocating or promoting commission of terrorism offences
83.221 (1) Every person who, by communicating statements, knowingly advocates or promotes the commission of terrorism offences in general — other than an offence under this section — while knowing that any of those offences will be committed or being reckless as to whether any of those offences may be committed, as a result of such communication, is guilty of
(a) an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than five years;
. so you can assist a terrorist blow up the Sky Dome or blow up a theatre somewhere else... ...."imprisonment for a term of not more than10 years;" "terrorism" appears 41 times .... "firearm" 13.....
.... I did find this one "interesting" when you think about it.
(3.1) Before making an order under subsection (3), the justice or the summary conviction court shall consider whether it is desirable, in the interests of the safety of the defendant or of any other person, to include as a condition of the recognizance that the defendant be prohibited from possessing any firearm, cross-bow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, ammunition, prohibited ammunition or explosive substance, or all such things, for any period specified in the recognizance and, where the justice or summary conviction court decides that it is so desirable, the justice or summary conviction court shall add such a condition to the recognizance.
They will consider whether you can have a prohibited weapon.....
.... does that mean they might think it is OK ....
yeah I know if you think longer about special permits etc.....
It is also amazingly easy to prohibit someone from having them .... but wait ... aren't they already charged with committing a crime..... why would they listen to a new law .....
