Bear Steals Deer from Hunter

Good for a laugh...

We've had the discussion on this forum as to the need to carry a bear tag when the go deer hunting..who would have thought it would be to protect your deer..LOL...

John was hunting in Alcona County, Michigan, when he shot a 6-point buck from a pop-up blind. John walked out to the spot where he shot his buck to check the area for blood, when he noticed a bear standing next to his blind.

At first, Wardynski says he thought it was “pretty cool,” until he figured out where the bear was headed . . .

As you’ll see in the video, John was following his buck’s blood trail for about 20 yards, and then put two and two together; John and the bear were tracking the same thing

Would it be illegal to put a round into the tree next to the bear??

That's the exact reason I buy a Bear tag every year. BANG!! End of problem with extra meat and a beautiful pelt.

Why not just shoot a few rounds in the air

Now that would be an interesting thread all sorts of points to debate.
Would it be considered baiting?
Could you be charged with not immediately sealing the deer at site of kill?
Is it protecting your property as you haven't tag it yet?
My thinking if you don't have a bear tag and the bear doesn't want to easily give it up you're shi* out of luck and thank goodness you had the camera cause no one would believe your story.

My guess is he was bow hunting. If not a couple rounds in the air would scare that bear back to its den.

did some looking....bit more info..

(9mm ? ...who hunts deer with a 9 mm ? ..unless it was just his sidearm)

As he realized the bear was heading for his deer, he began "shouting, whistling, breaking brush. She would not leave." He even tried firing his 9mm – away from the bear – a couple times but said it started coming toward him, he said in the comments.

And this is a familiar bear to Wardynski: "It's a sow. Have trailcam pics of her & her cubs. The biologist said the berry crop failed & the oak mast is at 3 year low. She's hungry."

So,what do you do? Without a Bear tag,there's no way the Bear could be shot,besides,if she had cubs,it would be tough to take her out even if you had a tag...at least,it would be for me. If she's that desperate for food and she won't leave,there isn't a lot of choice except to let her have the Deer. I think I'd be buggering off right quick. A sow with cubs over a kill is absolutely no place to be.
