I guess it comes down to how much value is your spare time worth
between hunting and fishing gear I know I have easy $100,000 but do I need that much? probably not

The price of new flagship model bows has really gotten out of hand. I don't think i'll ever buy 'new' again. If you're around various forums and Facebook buy-n-sell groups, you can find anything and everything used for a lot cheaper.

You can choose to spend that kind of money but in no way do you ever have to spend that money. That is like British estate hunting money, wow.

The new Excalibur Assassin X-bow package is $1599.99 plus tax. OUCH!!

I used to upgrade every year to the latest & greatest Excalibur. I'm officially out of the upgrading game with this price tag. Now if a used one comes up for 1/2 price all bets are off...lol

For most these days time is the most valuable commodity.

I think that puts us at $123,000

Let me know where I can find these deals, I think you a little light on the prices especially for land and cabin build, unless your going to the middle of no where and doing all the work yourself, even then you probably do not have enough money even for material.

A backpack and camping gear is a heck of a lot cheaper, less hassle and more fun.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Cost me 4k to build my 16x20 cabin in 2011. Insulated with wood heat. Took a while but scavenged all the material in bits and pieces from kijiji and built it myself.

Electrical cost 2.5k in 2011. 200 watt panel, 400 watt windmill, most of it is 12VDC but there is a 1500 watt pure sine inverter that also has a charge controller built in. Only item purchased new was 200 amp hour deep cycle battery ($700). Battery will need replacement in 2 or 3 years.

Land price is what i paid in 2010 for 100 acres in 82a - about 2hrs from the GTA. No driveway or entrance. I burned about $1500 in fuel with my backhoe mining aggregate off of the property to build the driveway, parking area and prepare the base for the cabin.

    Comfortable but rustic.

The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.

It is nice when you have the know how to do a lot of that yourself eh. We have put in 2 solar systems into camps now, grab parts where you can when you can and build when you have all the pieces.
