You’re right Dyth, the morally correct thing to do would be to put the platform out there for all to see. Hudak style. Didn’t work so well.
Millions in the public service will oppose him regardless because he is the PC leader.
He is promising a lot of good things I would like to see implemented. However, I want to know how he is going to make up the shortfall of his promised 10 cent gas tax break, for example. Is he going to borrow more money, is he going to slash the budget or has he managed to find some magic money tree in his back yard that he is willing to donate to the people of Ontario.
Yellow dog touched on the fact he is tired of career politicians telling us how to run this province. I completely agree with him. I am also tired of the fact politicians in this country seem to think they can just do the minimum and we have a duty to elect them. Ford seems to believe he doesn't have to release a platform. I want to know what Ford's vision is for Ontario besides tax breaks because there is more to governing Ontario than just giving the tax payers some money back.
If Ford releases a platform, chances are I would agree with it the most out of the big 3 parties. However, he hasn't and that shouldn't sit well with any of his supporters.
Hudak's problem was outright stating he would cut 100 000 jobs right off the top. He stated specifics (by attrition for example) after the Liberals whipped up the electorate because he wasn't specific when he made his statement and he couldn't recover.

Ford just needs to lie. That is what is expected and perfectly acceptable in Canadian elections. Get elected with a majority then do what you think needs done. Kim Campbell was right. Voters are mostly uninformed and care about sound bytes, tweets and what you look like. For about 1/3 of the population they will always vote with pro big government parties.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

NDP Candidate thinks "gun nuts" are threatening civil war and she would be happy if they were blown up by drones....
https://www.thepostmillennial.com/nd...drone-strikes/
The more they dig the bigger nutcases radicals the NDP has ....sanctuary province, tax increases, radicals and nuts, shut down nuclear plants (even though it is 50%+ of our power).......so for a name how about UCCCP (in deference to the old CCCP) , short for Union pandering Crazy Communist Cowards Party.
Hazel is still talking about Horwath and Wynne being bad choices though.

Hudak's problem was the same as Ford's. No real plan on saving money.
Think about it: If you run a business and you're not doing well, do you line your employees up against a wall and fire every third one?
No. You make strategic decisions about exactly what activities you need to divest. Maybe outsource fabrication of a good, maybe get rid of your tech wing, maybe stop spending on advertising. These are real decisions.
Governments work the same way. They have departments that perform different services. You can't just fire every third person and expect the ship to keep sailing, you need to decide what services you are no longer going to perform. This is why "find efficiencies" from Ford is not different from "fire 100 000" from Hudak.
A REAL cost-saving platform would identify legislation to repeal, services to remove etc.
If any PC Candidates are reading this one, I'll give you a head-start. What does the LCBO spend on advertising in a year? Pull the plug on that. There, I just saved some money and didn't fire anyone. And I'd bet my last dollar that Ontarians will still buy liquor next year. If you just say you're going to fire the employees, we will be standing at registers with nobody to take our money.

The LCBO is an easy one, they have tried to expand into food and recipes, glossy vintage magazines, advertisements on line etc. they could be reduced, a few ads for the online buying (in the store near the line up :-) )to push some sales there (ALOT more selection, free ship to store or $12 if over $50 and $17 for next day.) and reduce the location hours even by 1 hour a day would add up to millions. I've ordered online and it works good and you can find items you never will see in a local LCBO! The only bad thing is some of their "in store only" items are located in a particular area only and not available to be shipped to other locations or purchased online which can be REALLY annoying!
Example: Canadian made Sake, intriguing and I wanted to order it last time and just check
.... 2 stores only http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo/product/izu...ai-sake/406041
Canadian Made traditional cider.... no where near me.
http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo/product/rood-apples/557520
or a wine I have had in the past but now is only in a couple locations far away
http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo/product/rec...gnon-kp/218677
Like a pizza delivery for the convenience of getting it at home or the increased selection the online (especially of premium items) could be considerably expanded and people might grump at the delivery fee but will pay for the convenience.
There are also departments and ministries that have had bureaucrats added to so much that in the words of a woman I know "there is no work and we just sit around and talk or are on the phone all day".... McGinity and Wynne have added over 150,000 staff to the payroll and the extra wage goons they added to enforce their new rules would be a good start....all those added but there never seems to be the front liners like game wardens when they would do some good usually! The cuts even just by attrition would add up fast in a government as bloated as this one!
P.S.
I'm annoyed at you "benjhind"
Once I got on the LCBO page I got looking around and found they had the Sake I like back in stock.... and they had a Canadian made cream liquor I had never heard of that sounded good... and an intriguing Japanese Ale.... http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo/product/hit...ale-ale/249788 I got the last 3 + more ...... by the time I got done I had added up over $400, I then thinned down the herd (one of them the mandarin sake only sold in 12 packs and was $200 when I looked at the cart) but still spent $150. I refuse to take the blame for my lack of will power and short attention span on a Friday after a week like this so I BLAME YOU! Of course if the beer, cream liquor and the cider are good I might say thanks later but right now I blame you!

With all the news here, UK etc. I could use a bit of relaxer I guess so levity starts after they chill in the fridge.... they arrived today! So thanks in advance! Some you probably know and some I might not get to for awhile but anything you want a review of in case you want to order and try?
Ardiel Cider House - Dry Cider,
Fukushougun Junmai Ginjo Sake, Hakutsuru Sayuri Nigori Sake
Teva Merlot 2015, Galil Mountain Merlot KP 2016
Cabot Trail Maple Cream
Hitachino Nest Pale Ale ** I got the last three in stock
, Asahi Dry
and a couple common ones most know that I could get at the local LCBO but it saved me a trip. Stocked for quite awhile now!
Back on topic
I see the PC's are ahead now in the polls, must be due to the last debate, it basically consisted of talking points and Andrea saying "you are lying Kathleen" and Kathleen saying "you are lying Andrea" and Doug pointing out the spending and flaws in both. Andrea wants a communist state owning and running everything and Kathleen wants a socialist state where the gov't owns 90% and both want to spend spend spend.... Both women were rude and tried to talk over the one who's turn it was repeatedly. They both looked absolutely desperate to get in shots, interrupt or get attention even with some of the questions right of an NDP script sometimes.
P.S.
Maybe Horwath isn't a communist so much as an entitled socialist after all.... there are some questions coming out about here expenses....
""In fact, between 2011 and 2014, the Ontario NDP paid $43,585.98 in clothing expenses for Horwath but filed them under travel, office supplies and advertising expenses.""
A good example of last night ...
