I'm thinking about getting a few myself for the farm.

Apparently opossums are great at killing tons of ticks. They are said to kill about 4000 ticks a week. The article I read says that ticks are really attracted to opossums, but they are meticulous groomers and kill about 99% of all those ticks.
Now I can start looking in pet stores for a nice, cuddly possum for myself ;-))

As I predicted, we have almost zero tics this year.
A friend and I spent 4+ hours... boots to ground in Div 10 farm land yesterday and neither of got a tic.
Most years, that amount of time would have generate 100+ tics combined.
Long cold winter and very little snow created deep prolonged ground freeze and killed most of the tics

I took a buddy out for one last kick at the can yesterday and pulled three ticks off my pants in a 3hr sit - bringing my total turkey season tick count to 12 (that I found)! This year is definitely worse than last year.

Just saw a newscast from the Netherlands with thousands of people protesting Bravecto. Apparently it has killed many dogs, caused seizures and a variety of other illnesses.Forty thousand signatures have been collected so far to stop Bravecto from being sold.

That's consistent with what is happening south of the border. They have had numerous 'sick' dogs associated with Bravecto.
Aren't you glad I put you onto the Seresto collars...
On a side note I was in Long Point that last few days judging a retriever trial and most people had found ticks on their body. I sprayed carefully and still found 2 ticks on me.

First I've heard of this. I had my retriever on Bravecto last year without issue and have just started him again this year. I was contemplating going back to the Bayer product Advantix ? that we had him on before last year, but the Vet suggested Bravecto last year, (higher profit margin? lol). May have to investigate alternate products for next year.

Personally I wouldn't take any chances.
