Parry sound fire
I was planning on heading up to emu 47 to do some scouting and camping this weekend and was wondering how everything is doing with the fire? How’s the air quality?

Don't plan on having a campfire, area is restricted. http://www.gisapplication.lrc.gov.on...E&locale=en-US

It is really scary out there, I know we got some rain but fires have been started by logging machines and trucks.

Thanks for that link Bushmoose. I would have never come close to guessing there are that many forest fires going on in Ontario. All caused by lighting so far. It is a real eye opener.

Not all caused by lightning. There is a huge wind farm being built where the idiots were blasting even though a total fire ban was in place. They had already started small fires they had to put out but kept blasting anyway.
Cheers

We had a brush fire around the corner started by a logging machine and there was a huge field fire near London started by a combine, scary stuff out there.

I've been watching this fire daily since it started as I have a camp near Hwy 69. I haven't gone up yet but speak daily with people that live there. I know that the smoke has been an issue. In addition they banned water travel on the French Rivers east and west of Hwy 69 so it doesn't make much sense for me to go.
What I do find interesting is that just after this started a local reporter (not sure if it was Sudbury Star or CBC) interviewed a couple workers (anonymously) from the wind farm that was being constructed. They indicated they DID in fact accidentally start the fire while welding. They had started other small fires while working however were able to douse those, but not the last one before they bailed. MNRF website initially listed Parry Sound 33 has "Human" for cause. It now says "Undetermined ". Most likely after peoples cottages burned up on the Key River and other areas.
Not much being said about those interviews now. Article further said these workers indicated they were pushed to complete this project by the contractor despite the fire issues.
Hope they get a handle on it soon.

Last report says the fire has not grown in the last 24 hours. Heres hoping they are getting a noose around it.
