Sauer 100 and Mauser M18
As an alternative to a Tikka, has anyone bought either of these two new rifles? Anyone had one in their hands? Any reviews or reports? Both guns appear to be getting rave reviews online. I see the M18 comes with a 5 shot group MOA guarantee.

I no longer participate in the discussions now-a-days. However, this may warrant input since folks may find that helpful in some way …..
The group I hunt with have nine Tikka T3s among them and with the exception of two I had the opportunity to zero all of those over the course of past three years. IMHO, the Tikka, in its moderate although presently inflated price point offers excellent value in terms of build quality and accuracy performance (generally with factory ammo across the board).
Fast forward to Sauer 100 XT – I had the opportunity to zero one (.308 Win) last month, and IMHO, felt that to be an overall bit better designed rifle than the Tikka with few enhanced features i.e. three position safety, mag/mag release design, three lug bolt that locks directly inside the breech etc. FYI, the Sauer 100 barrel is press fitted (not threaded) into the receiver and this manufacturing technology process may be a turn-off for some people.
As is the case with Tikka, the Sauer receiver is also built upon the long action and the short action cartridge mag is equipped with a spacer. Unlike the Tiika, the Sauer trigger guard and bottom frame is metal.
The rifle shot ½ inch groups @ 100m with 150gr of both Federal Vital-Shok (Nosler Partition) as well as the less expensive Power-Shok (Blue box). Balance and handling is excellent. Excellent trigger, I actually prefer its flat blade design. Very comfortable to shoot, to begin with the .308 does not produce substantial felt recoil anyway. I was so impressed that I went and bought one for myself in 6.5x55 SE – haven’t had an opportunity to take that to the range.
Here’s an article I came across today that very closely matches my own impression regarding the Sauer 100 ....

This is also a very good review that was done by a CGN member a while ago ….

Thanks Sharps for the feedback. It would be a 6.5x55 Swede that I'd be interested in. Doesn't look like they have that caliber offered yet in the M18. I'll see if I can track down a Sauer in one of the gun shops around so I can go and have a feel.

A budget of a budget rifle? Sauer 100 vs 101 and m18 vs m12?
